Over the last decade refrigeration technology has been established in retail refrigeration and is considered a future-proof and sustainable solution.
The right choice of refrigerant is one challenge retailers face when deciding for a refrigeration solution. Other decision drivers are typically the total cost of ownership, legal compliance and potential restrictions regarding space and noise, especially for shop locations in city centres.
The presentation introduces solutions how to overcome these challenges and shows refrigeration architectures based on R-744 condensing units. The newly developed range of R-744 Scroll condensing units was designed to correspond to the needs of small and medium-size food retail applications. Its modular concept with adjustable position of the gas cooler allows for indoor and outdoor applications and extends the installation flexibility significantly. The condensing unit range features the new Copeland R-744 Scroll technology with dynamic vapor injection (DVI) which enables a compact unit design with efficient and silent operation in all climate conditions. The advanced control strategy with a dedicated algorithm and the related benefits will be explained as well as solutions for remote system monitoring. More options like heat recovery capability help to further reduce energy demand and keep operation costs low.
Finally, some real installation cases of R-744 Scroll condensing units will be introduced summarizing application experiences and feedback from customers.
