Session description

2024 will be another decisive year for air conditioning and commercial refrigeration manufacturers to identify alternative refrigerants to meet new limitations. These new limitations are determined based on a refrigerant’s global warming potential (GWP) and rely on federal guidance to provide regulatory consistency across the safety standards developed by the IEC. It represents a positive step for safely using A2Ls, A2 and A3 refrigerants in these applications.
At a high level, I will explain the mitigation requirements for IEC 60335-2-89, third edition Commercial refrigeration and IEC 60335-2-40, seventh edition, for air conditioners, Heat Pumps and dehumidifiers. I will look at how SC61C and SC61D work together to align these mitigation strategies so manufacturers of b ...
