Description

The primary drivers for the use of refrigerants are legal framework conditions. The European regulation on fluorinated greenhouse gases and the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol exemplify this. Both aim to reduce the marketing of refrigerants with high Global Warming Potential (GWP). Consequently, the use of natural refrigerants in refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump systems is on the rise. Systems with flammable refrigerants, whether small or large, are gaining particular importance. This includes monoblocs, as well as hermetically sealed or split systems. The upcoming presentation will provide insights into the considerations for using flammable refrigerants and their integration into education and training programs. Preventing explosive atmospheres, protecting against ignition, and performing risk analyses are key to safely handling systems with flammable refrigerants. Current learning programs blend asynchronous content with face-to-face events. Video platforms and comprehensible books are the focus for asynchronous learning. The challenge lies in communicating complex legal standards and practical skills effectively. Face-to-face events have proven invaluable, as immediate hands-on application of theoretical knowledge yields the best learning outcomes. Indeed, no virtual training can substitute for this experience.
