COPPER PHOSPHORUS BRAZING ALLOYS

The Copper Phosphorus Brazing Alloys are suitable to join copper with copper alloy base materials such as brass and bronzes. The compound with high proportion of phosphorus will result in a more active and fluid alloy which can flow over a larger area. The alloys have self-fluxing properties when used on copper. The phosphorous content determines the precise melting temperature and performance.

Higher proportion of silver alloy will result in a fluid which is easier to be controlled by operators. The silver alloy with less phosphorus may have a melting range which suitable for filling gaps. Generally, higher silver content alloy can bear hotter or longer heating cycle. Moreover, the resulted joints have better ductility.

The Copper phosphorus alloys should not be used on ferrous, nickel based alloys, or copper-nickel alloys with more of 10% nickel, to avoid the joint failure due to the formation of brittle intermetallic phases.
