Chillventa 2024 almost fully booked!

This year, topics such as sustainability, digitalization, the energy transition and refrigerants will take centre stage at both the congress and the exhibition. The organizers expect to see an increase in the key figures relevant to the exhibition. With about four months still to go, a clear increase in floor space for the exhibition is already in evidence: The exhibition space is almost fully booked.

Overview of the Chillventa floor plan

From 8 to 10 October, Chillventa 2024 will once again be the international hub of the global refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heat pump community. The Chillventa CONGRESS will take place the day before. The compact one-day congress programme will give experts from around the world the chance to learn about the latest trends and developments in depth.

“The outlook for Chillventa 2024 is excellent,” says Daniela Heinkel, Director Chillventa, NürnbergMesse. “As of today, we expect to welcome around 930 exhibiting companies from almost 50 countries to Nuremberg. Compared to the post-Covid event in 2022, we are once again seeing an increase in visitor numbers. In terms of space, we have already surpassed the final figure for the previous event, with growth of five percent. Apart from a very small number of remaining spaces, we are already almost fully booked. The growth of Chillventa is a great signal and also a sure sign that Chillventa is an important trading platform for companies from all over the world to meet the right customers, introduce themselves and cultivate contacts.” With regard to the trade visitors, Heinkel ventures an initial forecast: “Even if it’s a little like gazing into a crystal ball, we expect to welcome over 30,000 experts once again.”

Large international contingent

Chillventa has always been characterized by a strong international presence. In 2024, the proportion of exhibitors from abroad will be 75%, representing further growth in this area too. The figure for trade visitors in 2022 was 56%. “We expect a similarly high level of global participation on the visitor side in 2024,” says Heinkel. “This once again underpins the exhibition’s claim to be the leading international exhibition for refrigeration technology in the air conditioning, ventilation and heat pump segments. Chillventa is THE international networking platform: Chillventa Connecting Experts.”

Key topics at Chillventa and the Chillventa CONGRESS

With its extensive range of products and services, Chillventa once again provides an overview of the industry, with components, systems and applications for refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heat pumps.

This year, the exhibition and CONGRESS will focus in particular on heat pumps and refrigerants in the context of sustainability and the circular economy.

Other topics include digitalization, overall energy efficiency, IT security for refrigeration systems, Eco-design, efficiency through controls, innovation in heat transfer, air conditioning and waste heat utilization in data centres, heat recovery and much more.

The Chillventa CONGRESS on the day before the exhibition offers experts a comprehensive insight into current industry topics. Prominent international speakers will impart knowledge from R&D and actual practice, and will provide information on the current underlying political conditions in Germany, Europe and worldwide. This year’s congress programme includes the following subject areas, with a focus on sustainability, refrigerants and the energy transition.

  • The eighth Innovation Day for refrigeration technology: energy efficiency and climate protection (in German), including the circular economy
  • ASERCOM + EPEE Symposium (in English)
  • Heat Pumping Technologies for Commercial and Industrial Applications (English), with topics including the heat pump market in Germany and the EU, heat pumps for drying, and industrial heat pumps
  • Energy-efficient air conditioning in data centres (in German) with a focus on waste heat utilization

Expertise firsthand – at the Chillventa trade forums

In the four trade forums on the topics of Refrigeration in Hall 7A, Air Conditioning, Ventilation & Heat Pumps in Hall 4A, Application, Education & Regulation in Hall 8 and A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO DIGITISATION in Hall 9, prominent speakers and companies will present ground-breaking topics in over 200 presentations.

In the heat pumps section, trade visitors will find presentations on low-power air-to-air heat pumps through to industrial heat pumps in the MW range and the very popular high-temperature heat pumps used for purposes such as steam generation.

The complex topic of refrigerants will be covered in a number of presentations in Halls 4A, 7A and 8. Aspects covered will include the effects of the F-Gas Regulation, the importance of PFAS, the use of refrigeration oils for low GWP refrigerants, leakage detection, sensors for A2 and A3 refrigerants, risk assessment when using flammable refrigerants, optimization of R744 and R717 systems, planning for R290 heat pumps and air conditioning systems.

Tasks and solutions will be presented: Cooling tower hygiene, no biofilm and therefore no legionella, water chemistry, leak detection, refrigerant pumps, EC fans, importance of EN 378, fan of the future, water protection, compressor developments (e.g. oil-free), ejectors for R744 systems, cloud solutions, refrigerant solutions for AC and heat pumps, filter technologies, system solutions for chilled water, cloud solutions, refrigerant solutions for AC and heat pumps, and applications in the likes of breweries, milk processing and supermarkets.

Last but not least, trade visitors to Hall 9 can find out firsthand how they can increase efficiency and productivity and secure their future by digitalizing business processes of all kinds at the A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO DIGITISATION forum. In fascinating discussions and detailed interviews, experts and experienced entrepreneurs will provide an insight into what customers and business partners expect from a digitally positioned trade business. You will find out specifically how digitally positioned trade businesses work securely with their networked systems.

Special presentations: By professionals for professionals

Chillventa is known for its informative special presentations, which will continue their long-standing tradition in 2024. They will cover current and industry-relevant topics, provide insights into the latest technologies and describe the required expertise.

This year, the Federal Technical College will be presenting a key topic: “Refrigerant loss and no leak found! How it works!” in Hall 4, where demonstrations will be given on the subject of leak detection and leak testing. In particular, the focus will be on functional testing of leak detectors, the application of the envelope method and visualization of the pressure drop test.

Heat pumps have been a fixed part of Chillventa since the event first began. In recent years, they have become established as a key technology for the decarbonization of the building sector and industrial processes. AIT Austrian Institute of Technology began researching and developing heat pumps more than 25 years ago and high-temperature heat pumps around ten years ago. At Chillventa, this acknowledged research partner will present its latest developments and results from research projects in the field of heat pump optimization, use in industrial drying processes and as a replacement for gas boilers in residential buildings. www.ait.ac.at/en/solutions/heat-pump-technologies

Further programme highlights at Chillventa

In addition to the supporting programme and special presentations, there will once again be guided tours, trainee tours and the German Refrigeration Trade Championship in Hall 9.

Platform for young companies and start-ups

Chillventa offers international start-ups the opportunity to present their innovative products, solutions, ideas or services in the international START:HUB area. This is located in Hall 9, next to the Young Innovators area, and is where Chillventa provides a platform for young, innovative companies with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). Start-ups and young companies from Germany have the opportunity to present their product innovations to trade visitors at the subsidized “Young Innovators” pavilion.
